For centuries theologians have debated the Doctrine of Election. Many theories have been proposed. Great minds have pondered the matter, and volumes have been written on the subject. This paper does not propose to solve the debate. It is one persons study into the matter. In all likelihood, it not even complete, but presents the stand of the author at this time.
CONCEPTS OF THE DOCTRINE OF ELECTION
The doctrine of election has been a source of debate throughout history. Four basic theories of this doctrine are proposed in modern times. They are:
II. The theory of Ecclesiology.
III. The theory of Foreseen Faith.
The theory of Foreseen Faith and the Calvinistic theory are the predominate theories of theology in the United States today. The other two theories exist in our nation and predominate the theologies of some churches and areas. The Scriptural evidence shows that they are not worthy of consideration. Supporters of the theory of Foreseen Faith and the Calvinistic theory present strong Scriptural evidence. Each theory will be given the attention it deserves to place it in proper perspective and to present the Scriptural evidence pertaining to it.
